Bonding Curve / Continuous Token

Decentralized Monetary Protocol

A class of monetary protocols using algorithmic price curves to define continuous mint-and-burn relationships between a reserve currency and a community token, where price is determined mathematically by supply rather than by order-book matching. Augmented variants add governance and funding mechanisms enabling 'warm currencies' with semi-permeable membranes. Prototype: Commons Stack Augmented Bonding Curve (ABC).

Decentralized Monetary Protocol Attributes

Origins Token engineering research; commons-based peer production; continuous organization theory.
Data Formats ABI-encoded mint/burn calls; reserve ratio parameters; bonding curve formula parameters (slope, reserve weight).
Terms Self-hosting (on-chain deployment); open specification.
Funds Unknown — multiple grants across affiliated organizations; no single consolidated figure.
Based On Simon de la Rouviere's curation markets and continuous organization concepts (2017); Bancor formula; Michael Zargham research on token engineering.
Permissions Permissionless minting and burning by curve participants; governance permissions per ABC variant.
Smart Contract Yes — bonding curve is realized as smart contract on EVM-compatible chains.
Development Tools cadCAD (simulation framework), Commons Stack libraries, OpenZeppelin contracts, Hardhat/Foundry deployment.
Protocol Maturity / Standardization De Facto Standard — widely adopted pattern; multiple variants without single canonical specification.
Trust Framework Smart contract mathematics enforces price discovery; reserve assets back token redemption; governance modules enforce community-defined rules.
Target Application Domain Commons funding, decentralized organization treasuries, public goods finance, continuous fundraising, community token launches.
Game-Acceptance Position Modify-Additive — warm currency designed to coexist with national money and ETH reserve.
Accumulation Regime Enables (uncapped principal); accumulation governed by curve mathematics and exit costs.
Coordination Mechanism Algorithmic mechanism design with bonding-curve price discovery.
Issuance Model Algorithmic — supply expands and contracts according to curve formula in response to reserve deposits and withdrawals.
Value-Signal Type Single rational unit; price determined by curve.
Federation Pattern None typical — designed for single commons; cross-commons composition rare.
Substrate Independence Blockchain-native (EVM).
