Hypha

Decentralized Application

A decentralized governance, payroll, and treasury platform for Decentralized Human Organizations (DHOs) — Hypha's preferred term for DAOs with a human-centered, regenerative orientation. Provides an 'organization-in-a-box' toolkit enabling communities, projects, and organizations to set up governance structures, manage roles and circles, run proposals and voting, automate payroll via multi-token systems, manage multi-sig treasury, and coordinate collective action on blockchain. Built originally on EOS/Antelope; extending to Cardano and other chains. Hypha is itself governed as a DHO and uses its own tools in a live dogfooding model.

Use Case Domains

Decentralized Application Attributes

Origins Decentralized governance / Regenerative economics (emerged from Hypha's own need to organize, reward, and govern the SEEDS regenerative currency community; tools developed internally then productized as 'organization-in-a-box')
Database On-chain state (EOSIO/Antelope blockchain — EOS as home chain; Telos also supported; Cardano and Substrate in development; all governance state, roles, proposals, and treasury data stored on-chain)
Query Language EOSIO RPC API (on-chain data queries via standard Antelope RPC); dfuse/Firehose (streaming blockchain data client for event indexing)
Data Formats JSON (API responses and proposal data); EOSIO action/table formats; custom token formats (HUSD, Seeds, Hypha token)
Collaborative Live Editing N/A (governance proposals and documents created and voted on asynchronously; no real-time collaborative editing)
Rich Text Editing Basic text (proposal descriptions support text; no rich media editing environment)
Mobile Support Partial mobile support (Hypha Wallet available as mobile authenticator; main DHO interface is web-based and mobile-accessible via browser)
Web Support Yes (primary interface at dao.hypha.earth; full web application)
Native Apps N/A (Hypha Wallet mobile authenticator exists; no full native desktop app)
Terms Freemium SaaS + Token staking (freemium access tier available; paid plans via Hypha token staking — tokens staked rather than spent, remain in DAO treasury while services are active)
Funds $850K USD from EOS Network Foundation (October 2022); Cardano Project Catalyst grant (amount unconfirmed)
Based On EOS / Antelope blockchain (primary); Telos (early deployment); Cardano (in development via Project Catalyst); Substrate/Polkadot (experimental hypha-substrate implementation); HUSD stablecoin; SEEDS currency (origin project)
Use Case Category Decentralized governance / Organizational coordination / Regenerative economics
User Interface Type Dashboard (organizational dashboard with left-nav for circles, proposals, members, treasury, roles; document-centric proposal flow; badge and quest views)
Offline Capabilities Online-required (blockchain-based; all governance actions require network connectivity for on-chain submission and confirmation)
Collaboration Features Proposal creation and voting; circle and sub-circle structure with budgets; role assignment and payroll; quest system for short-term contributions; smart badge achievements; multi-sig treasury management; community engagement tools; policy proposals; core team and community layer governance tiers
Data Portability Partial (on-chain data is publicly readable by anyone via blockchain explorer; no formal data export tooling documented; org data persists on-chain independently of Hypha platform)
Integration Ecosystem EOS ecosystem (Antelope chain tools, dfuse/Firehose); Hypha Wallet (mobile authenticator); DAO Protocols open-source layer for Cardano dApp integration; multi-chain expansion planned
Web2 Data Export No
Prosocial Coherence High (explicitly regenerative design philosophy; DHO framing emphasizes human flourishing over profit; two-tier governance (core + community) balances participation with sustainability; mission-aligned tokenomics; Hypha constitution frames organization as a living system; no extractive VC exit pressure; surplus funding directed to microenterprise and ecosystem)
Economic Flows Yes (multi-token system: HUSD for stable compensation, Seeds for ecosystem participation, Hypha governance token; decentralized payroll automation; treasury management with multi-sig; quest-based contribution compensation; DAO Adoption Incentives for integrating projects; token staking for service access)
Governance & Decision Making DAO / DHO self-governance (proposal and voting system; circle-based sub-governance; policy proposals; constitutional governance via Hypha DAO Constitution; democratic governance with optional meritocratic weighting; Hypha itself governed by its own DHO tools in live dogfooding)
Media / Publishing No
Knowledge Management Partial (proposal history and organizational policies serve as institutional memory; no dedicated knowledge management tooling documented)
Sensemaking Partial (two-tier governance structure designed to support collective sensemaking; quest and badge systems surface contributor reputation; no dedicated sensemaking tools)
Project Management Yes (quest system for short-term project proposals with scoped deliverables and payment on proof of work; circle budgets for ongoing project funding; role-based contribution tracking)
Communication Model Asynchronous (proposal-based governance is inherently async; community engagement via Discord for real-time discussion; on-chain actions are transactional)
Network Resilience High (governance and treasury state stored on-chain; Hypha platform UI could go offline without loss of on-chain data; blockchain provides censorship-resistant persistence)
Discovery Mechanism Invite / Direct (organizations join via dao.hypha.earth; DAO Launch Programme for guided onboarding; no open peer discovery mechanism — organizational membership is permissioned per DAO)
Max Participants Large group (100-1,000+; designed for organizations of varying sizes; two-tier governance model intended to scale beyond small groups; EOS blockchain scalability supports large membership)
Data Sovereignty High (all governance state on public blockchain; no central Hypha server controls org data; organizations own their on-chain state; token staking model means tokens stay in DAO treasury)
